Bannon leaves BreitbartOn January 10, 2018 by Ilene
Stephen K. Bannon is departing his post as executive chairman of Breitbart News, the company is said to be announcing on Tuesday.
His departure was forced by financial backer Rebekah Mercer, who was displeased with the quotes attributed to Bannon in Michael Wolff’s controversial new book. In Fire and Fury, the Breitbart News chief and former Trump consigliere questioned President Trump’s mental health and dissed his oldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
From the New York Times:
Mr. Bannon and Breitbart will work together on a smooth transition, a statement from the company’s chief executive, Larry Solov, said.
In the statement, Mr. Bannon added that he was “proud of what the Breitbart team has accomplished in so short a period of time in building out a world-class news platform.”
